Multi StagE

Reduce manufacturing costs and cycle times by combining functional testing, flash programming, and boundary scans into a single, automated test fixture.

Advanced Multistage & Dual-Stage Testing Solutions

Multistage Testing (MST) secures product reliability by evaluating electronic assemblies through progressive manufacturing stages. By integrating automated and manual techniques—such as continuity checks, signal analysis, and Automated Test Equipment (ATE)—defects are caught early, significantly reducing manufacturing costs.

The Mechanics of Dual-Stage Testing

Dual-stage fixtures allow you to combine multiple test methodologies into a single setup by utilizing test probes with varying plunger and travel lengths:

  • Stage 1 (Full Compression): Driven by vacuum, pneumatic, or manual operation, the fixture compresses fully so all test probes make contact with the PCBA.
  • Stage 2 (Partial Compression): The fixture partially releases, leaving only the longer-plunger probes in contact.
  • Applications: Ideal for separating in-circuit testing from functional testing, boundary scans, or high-speed flash programming.

Side-Access Interconnect Solutions

To further reduce cycle times, custom side-access jigs can be integrated to test edge connectors simultaneously:

  • Custom Interconnects: Specialized jigs housing spring-loaded probes tailored to your specific connector geometries.
  • Flexible Mounting: Mechanisms can be mounted on linear rails at various angles to fit your product's design.
  • Actuation Options: Depending on your production volume and budget, side-access mechanisms can be driven by:
    • Pneumatic or electronic automation
    • Manual human operators
    • Collaborative robotic systems.
